Bear Complex

5 Rounds For Load

Complete 7 Unbroken Sets of the Bear Complex:

1 Power Clean
1 Front Squat
1 Push Press
1 Back Squat
1 Push Press

How to Perform the Bear Complex: The Bear Complex consists of five movements performed sequentially in a single repetition. Complete the entire complex seven times without letting go of the bar or resting it on the ground to finish one round. Execute five unbroken rounds, progressively increasing the weight, and take necessary rests between each round. Changing the load during a round is not allowed.

Scoring: Your score is determined by the maximum weight used for your fifth unbroken round.

Recommended Weights (lbs):

  • Beginner: Men 75 / Women 55

  • Intermediate: Men 115 / Women 85

  • Advanced: Men 155 / Women 105

  • Elite: Men 225+ / Women 155+

Movement Standards: Perform each movement individually as prescribed. Alternatively, in a CrossFit-style Bear Complex, movements can be linked together. For example, a rep might transition from a Squat Clean Thruster directly into a Back Squat Thruster without pausing.

Tips and Strategy: Avoid large weight increments to prevent early failure. Gradually increase the load between rounds to sustain intensity.

Scaling: For newcomers to these movements, it's advisable to maintain a consistent weight throughout the workout instead of increasing it per round. Prioritize completing unbroken sets by selecting an appropriate load.

Remember, the Bear Complex is an intensive workout that demands endurance. Choose a weight that lets you complete the complex without breaking, and challenge yourself while maintaining proper form.
